Everyone is special, my friend. There's a basic human weakness inherent in all people which tempts them to want what they can't have and not want what is readily available to them. Only a kind person is able to judge another justly and to make allowances for his weaknesses. A kind eye, while recognising defects, sees beyond them. So let us begin anew, remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. The greatest weakness of all is the great fear of appearing weak. If you think a weakness can be turned into a strength, I hate to tell you this, but that's another weakness. The morality of compromise sounds contradictory. Compromise is usually a sign of weakness, or an admission of defeat. Strong men don't compromise, it is said, and principles should never be compromised as our strength grows out of our weaknesses. Every age, every culture, every custom and tradition has its own character, its own weakness and its own strength, its beauties and cruelties, it accepts certain sufferings as matters of course, puts up patiently with certain evils. Human life is reduced. And Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character. We all have ability. The difference is how we use it. We must not, in trying to think about how we can make a big difference, ignore the small daily differences we can make which, over time, add up to big differences that we often cannot foresee.
